Executive Producer (Morning News): RESPONSIBILITIES: We are looking for an individual who will help break the mold of morning television via enterprise segment creation, colorful/diverse contributor and guest development to become part of a smart, savvy morning news team. Direct planning, content selection, content development, formatting and overall editorial direction for a five and a half hour morning news block. The AM EP will be directly responsible overseeing newscasts producers, morning news crews, production staff, as well as, approve scripts, and edit copy. Story and future planning, social media campaigns, critiquing programs and evaluating staff are essential components of the position. Ability to perform all other duties as assigned. Approve and regulate expenses. REQUIREMENTS: Top candidates must have 5 or more year's television newscast executive producing/writing experience. Prior news management experience necessary. Superior creativity and organizational skills essential. Must be resourceful, cost efficient, have strong production and technical knowledge, be able to meet deadlines and perform well under pressure. Good interpersonal skills and an understanding of budgetary issues necessary. Moderate stair climbing, standing, sitting at workstation, and bending.
Account Executive – Fox Stations Sales, Chicago: Established in 2001, Fox Stations Sales is the National Sales Organization for the Fox owned and operated television stations which generate 40% of the O&O station revenues. A division of 21st Century Fox, formerly NewsCorp, FSS has Sales offices located in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Detroit, Miami, Seattle, Minneapolis and Boston. RESPONSIBILITIES: National sales for 17 spot television markets with 28 TV stations; oversee all schedules throughout the flights; work directly with ad agencies and clients to increase station revenue and shares through growing core business, sales of sports and specials, internet and new business development. REQUIREMENTS: 2-3 years of successful TV advertising sales experience preferred; college degree preferred; knowledge of NSI ratings, MRI and Rentrak research resources; familiarity with Wide Orbit applications is a plus; strong PC skills: Excel and Word; ability to work and thrive in a fast paced environment; positive attitude.
General Assignment Reporter: Candidate will gather and disseminate news. Communicate to the assignment desk the daily happenings in the field by covering day-to-day news stories through the use of strong writing and live reporting skills, performing as a fill in anchor, and responding to breaking news. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for gathering story information from various news sources and determining the worthiness of each story, idea, tip, etc. Strong knowledge of national and international events, as well as the ability to cover local stories. Keep news management and newscast producer apprised of all breaking news and changes in previous assignments. Communicate with field crews for updates on story assignments. Duties include writing, planning, reporting organized gathered information, performing in-house research, and working well under pressure, social media savvy is necessary. Other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 4-years television news experience. A degree in Broadcast journalism and knowledge of city politics preferred. Anchoring experience required. Strong writing skills and an aggressive, innovative, resourceful, enterprising, and energetic approach is also required. Experience with newsroom computer a plus. Must be able to deal effectively with people and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Maintenance Technician - Transmitter: RESPONSIBILITIES: WFLD/WPWR is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a skill emphasis on installing, maintaining, and repairing full power UHF television transmission systems. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of all components related to the transmission system, including electrical, water cooling systems, encoders, exciters, antennas, and other various RF related equipment. Past experience with Harris and/or Comark DTV transmitters along with CPI and/or E2V IOTs is preferred. Well versed in reviewing and evaluating transmitter reports and able to document according to FCC requirements. This position will also perform duties at the studio including maintenance of master control and production automation systems, ingest and playback servers, routing systems, satellite distribution, microwave systems, networking equipment, server hardware, and other various facility needs as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a broadcast television station. Associates degree or higher in electronics or engineering. Formal technical training from military or trade school in electronics and/or RF technologies combined with 7 years previous related work experience can be substituted for a degree. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be flexible with schedule and willing to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must possess a valid drivers' license.
Director of Engineering: RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the VP Engineering, the successful candidate will directly supervise the engineering maintenance department staff; develop and implement systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operation of stations broadcast equipment; oversee the design, installation, and preventive maintenance of broadcast facilities and equipment; establish and maintain internal technical documentation and standards, which ensure stations compliance with FCC, OSHA, EPA, and local regulations; monitors applicable budgets and be responsible for satisfactory completion of assigned projects. Duties also include training technicians in the operation and maintenance of specific equipment for the implementation of applicable procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the television industry with solid design engineering and troubleshooting skills. A degree in Engineering, Broadcast, or IT related field is preferred. Prior management skills, similar position held and/or training experience is highly desired. Working knowledge of the following technologies: full power UHF transmitters, microwave systems, encoding technologies, master control and production automation systems, wired and wireless networking technologies, server and file-based storage hardware. Strong follow-through, written communications, and interpersonal skills required. Light sitting, standing, bending, walking, stair climbing, driving, traveling, attending meetings, and lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. is also required.
Multi-Platform Marketing & Research Director: The MRD will serve as the main point of contact for Station / Sales Management and Account Executives on research analysis, sales marketing, insights and metrics for the generation of new ideas, the creation of strong promotions/presentations and a strategy for optimization of data for new business development. The Multi-Platform MRD must be a thought leader, with creative new methods and metrics for tracking the evolving new media and media monetization revenue streams across multiple platforms in traditional, new and social media platforms. REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field, preferred; highly effective strategic thinker with strong analytical skills; creative idea generator who can offer our clients multi-platform based business solutions. The successful incumbent will demonstrate strong personal presentation skills – makes powerful and persuasive presentations and is able to gain the respect of audiences; advanced knowledge of the media industry and marketplace; Must be flexible, adaptable and able to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Advanced understanding of Nielsen methodology, metrics and data systems, required; knowledge of Rentrak is preferred. Promotions Coordinator: The Promotions Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Creative Services and Promotions Manager in the day-to-day functions of the Promotions department. The coordinator will also work with Writer/Producers and Account Executives for promotion and commercial production. The Coordinator will also have the opportunity to write, produce, and edit news promos and spots for the Sales Department. Some duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Scheduling all on-air promotion to heighten viewer awareness of upcoming programming; Working closely with producers to assure timely completion of scheduled promotions, and assisting in production; Supervising ‘tag & bag' editors. Providing them with daily network prime/sports and syndicated show worksheets. Schedules the on-air PSAs, manages the PSAs inventory and download new PSAs; Coordinates with transmission in the recording of satellite feeds involving topical or daily specific promotion materials from syndicators and networks; Produce special projects as assigned, including, but not limited to, sales related promos, producing spec spots for potential and existing sales clients, producing custom prime and syndicated promos; Assist in the creation of contests/promotion to support relationships with media partners; Assists with all aspects of station program-related, non-sponsored contesting including prize allocation/fulfillment, as well as the completion and acceptance of all legal documents and contracts; Help maintain continuity of graphic design for on-air promotions spots and station packaging elements. Order new graphic materials when required. Work with graphic designers to develop graphic look for projects; Assists with the creation and posting of web content and social media posts; Perform other duties as needed. A.M. Producer: The AM Producer will line produce AM news shows, responsible for show content, production, monitoring wires, graphics, pitch stories, assist in story production and producing breaking news reports. Also responsible for producing segments within the morning news, such as booking guests/newsmakers, researching topics, developing questions for the anchors to ask guests/newsmakers, creating graphics and video support to enhance the segments. Duties also include news writing, tease writing and other duties as assigned. The successful incumbent must have 3-5 years major market writing/producing experience as well as experience with on-line research. 4-year degree preferred and computer knowledge is required. Must be hard working, creative and willing to learn.
Per Diem Writer: RESPONSIBILITIES: Write stories assigned by producers, gather facts, find video and oversee editing of stories. Responsible for story content and accuracy. Perform duties of line producer when assigned. Must perform all other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have 2-3 years writing experience, experience as a line producer and computer knowledge preferred. Must be creative, concise, detail oriented, able to handle deadline pressure and take direction from producers. Reliability, good news judgment, and factual accuracy are crucial. Heavy sitting at workstation, light standing, bending, walking, and stair climbing are also required.
