Freelance DGA Director: WFLD is seeking an experienced freelance newscast director/technical director. We utilize a fully automated control room to produce seven and a half hours of live news daily. The ideal candidate will have experience with a production automation system, preferably Sony ELC. Knowledge of the Sony 8000 switcher, ChyronHego tools (Camio, Axis & Luci), robotic cameras and inews are a plus. Additional duties may include directing weekly political and sports shows, promos, satellite interviews, pre-produced segments and floor directing. REQUIREMENTS: At least 3 years of experience directing news or related content. Strong technical directing background with experience in an automated control room and studio. Ability to lead, thrive under pressure and succeed in the fast-paced environment of live local news.
General Assignment Reporter: WFLD is seeking a General Assignment Reporter. The successful incumbent will gather and disseminate news. Communicate to the assignment desk the daily happenings in the field by covering day-to-day news stories through the use of strong writing and live reporting skills, performing as a fill in anchor, and responding to breaking news. Responsible for gathering story information from various news sources and determining the worthiness of each story, idea, tip, etc. Strong knowledge of national and international events, as well as the ability to cover local stories. Keep news management and newscast producer apprised of all breaking news and changes in previous assignments. Communicate with field crews for updates on story assignments. Duties include writing, planning, reporting organized gathered information, performing in-house research, and working well under pressure, social media savvy is necessary. Other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years television news experience. A degree in Broadcast journalism and knowledge of city politics preferred. Anchoring experience required. Strong writing skills and an aggressive, innovative, resourceful, enterprising, and energetic approach is also required. Experience with newsroom computer a plus. Must be able to deal effectively with people and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Information Support Technician: WFLD is seeking an Information Support Technician who will be responsible for assisting personnel with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology; provide solutions and resolve technical service request. The technician will provide PC technical support to FTS employees including the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices and peripheral technology. Responsible for ensuring systems interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems and Active Directory resources. Level 1-3 helpdesk and ability to work with level 3 TVHOIT employees to troubleshoot and correct issues. Will back-up IT manager and assist with maintaining station’s servers and network. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Technical, or Engineering. One or more certifications are required CCNA (or higher) or Network+. Also desire A+ or MCP (or equivalent in experience)

The position will primarily focus on developing new business for our Broadcast TV and digital properties. The successful candidate must be able to identify qualified targets, possess strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all of our resources in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include preparing internal reports and the credit and collection of all accounts. REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four year college degree is preferred. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to this position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and communication skills. Production Technician: RESPONSIBILITIES: The Production Technician will operate auxiliary equipment as part of FOX32’s live news and sports productions. These include but are not limited to robotic cameras, graphics and audio. The ability to excel under pressure in the fast paced environment of live local news alongside a talented team of producers and directors is required. The Production Technician will serve as the technical co-pilot for all news, sports and community affairs programming. Experience with studio LED lighting, ETC lighting consoles, Ross studio camera robotics, Calrec audio consoles, and Chyron graphics systems is preferred. The ability to mix multiple audio sources during any news or sports program. Candidate should have experience in an automated production control room environment. Interaction with talent and guests using excellent interpersonal communication, verbal skills and a professional demeanor is critical. Others duties may include recording news and programming feeds and tuning in Satellite and Microwave signals. Preparing content for broadcast by ingesting and timing media as well as judging technical quality. Previous experience with or ability to learn Grass Valley iTX master control automation system is also helpful. Knowledge of windows server/client platforms, high performance storage systems, and video encoding/delivery systems is a plus. Perform other duties as assigned by management. REQUIREMENTS: Prefer candidates with 3 or more years of television production experience. Strong attention to detail and the ability to proactively isolate and resolve technical problems within network and broadcast systems. A team player that is able to work independently as required. In-depth troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform successfully under pressure are essential. Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks. Previous experience and knowledge in an IT architecture and infrastructure is a plus. Must be flexible with schedule including working on weekends and holidays. Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Position requires membership in NABET Local 41 union.
Maintenance Technician - Transmitter: RESPONSIBILITIES: WFLD/WPWR is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a skill emphasis on installing, maintaining, and repairing full power UHF television transmission systems. The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of all components related to the transmission system, including electrical, water cooling systems, encoders, exciters, antennas, and other various RF related equipment. Past experience with Harris and/or Comark DTV transmitters along with CPI and/or E2V IOTs is preferred. Well versed in reviewing and evaluating transmitter reports and able to document according to FCC requirements. This position will also perform duties at the studio including maintenance of master control and production automation systems, ingest and playback servers, routing systems, satellite distribution, microwave systems, networking equipment, server hardware, and other various facility needs as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a broadcast television station. Associates degree or higher in electronics or engineering. Formal technical training from military or trade school in electronics and/or RF technologies combined with 7 years previous related work experience can be substituted for a degree. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be flexible with schedule and willing to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Must possess a valid drivers' license.
