Dr. NavYash Gupta graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry from Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis in 1987 and he earned his MD (1991) from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He then completed a surgical internship and residency in General Surgery at St Louis University Hospitals in St. Louis Missouri. Following an additional Research Fellowship year at St. Louis University he did his Vascular Surgery Fellowship training at the University of Chicago Hospitals (1997-1998). He served on the surgical faculty at the University of Pittsburgh as Assistant Professor of Surgery for almost 9 years prior to accepting his current position. In June of 2009 Dr Gupta joined NorthShore University HealthSystem as Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Director of the Vascular Laboratories.
Dr. Gupta is a specialist in vascular surgery with a special interest in endovascular and surgical treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic pathology, carotid artery occlusive disease, peripheral vascular disease and hemodialysis access. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery with a certificate of special qualifications in Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Gupta has authored or co-authored numerous articles, book chapters and abstracts and has presented at multiple regional, national and international meetings. His articles are published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery, Journal of Trauma and the Journal of Surgical Research. He is a member of several national societies including the Society for Vascular Surgery.
