(WAGA) - FOX 5 News has learned rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Fayette County for a second time this month.
The rapper, whose real name is William Roberts, was arrested Wednesday morning. Roberts, and another person described as his bodyguard, have been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. FOX 5 News is working to find out what led up to the arrest.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office assisted the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in locating the two on Wednesday.
On June 7, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation regarding an assault at a home on Highway 279 in Fayetteville. The investigation revealed Roberts and Nadrian James as suspects in the assault.
Earlier this month and three days after the first investigation started, Roberts was arrested on June 10 on a marijuana possession charge. Fayette County Sheriff's Office spokesman J. Allen Stevens said an officer stopped Roberts and a passenger because the windows of the Bentley they were riding in violated tinting regulations. Stevens said the officer smelled marijuana and found a misdemeanor amount inside the vehicle.
Stevens says Roberts was cooperative and didn't appear to be under the influence. Stevens says Roberts has also been given a citation for the tinted windows.
