Roeper's Reviews: Terminator 2 3D, Marjorie Prime

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - When we talk about sequels that equal or surpass the original, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is almost always on the list and deservedly so.

And now James Cameron's 1991 classic is back in theaters, this time in a restored print with 3D.

This was the movie that confirmed Arnold Schwarzenegger's status as the biggest movie star in the world. In T2, his Terminator is now the protecter of Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor and her son John, played by Edward Furlong.

Cameron and a crew of some 1,000 artists spent six months restoring the print and adding the 3D effects. The result is breathtaking. One of the best movies of 1991 is now one of the best movies of 2017. See it!

Also opening this week is Marjorie Prime. Wow, this is one trippy journey.

Lois Smith is a woman near the end of her life. Jon Hamm plays her husband, sort of. He's actually a computer generated Hologram of her spouse when he was in his 40s. The hologram becomes increasingly like her actual husband as it gathers information.

The outstanding supporting cast includes Geena Davis as Smith's daughter and Tim Robbins as her son-in-law. This is a thought-provoking drama about a dysfunctional family, as shown through the lens of a psychological sci-fi thriller. See it!

And tomorrow I'll have reviews of the action war movie Bushwick, starring Dave Bautista from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and Leap, a girl-power animated film featuring the voices of Elle Fanning and Carly Rae Jepsen.
