CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - For Sonny Nicotera, 30 years buys a lot of holiday cheer. But, if he’s learned anything, it’s that it takes a village to make a village.

As he gears up for yet another December 25, his living room continues to be a source of true Christmas spirit.

It takes 220 figurines make up Nicotera’s elaborate Christmas display inside of his home.

A creation 30 years in the making, it began with two. And, over the past few decades, it’s turned Sonny into a local celebrity come Christmas time.

Assisted by his nephews, the village takes a full week to assemble , and it is arranged differently every year.

While he admits it does add a chunk of change to his electricity bill, the community looks forward to it every year. In fact, many of the figurines are donations from those who are honored to just be a part of it.

Giving and receiving is what Christmas is all about, something you don’t have to tell Sonny.
