New play brings Edgar Allen Poe tales to life

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - He’s a man unlike any other, in a play unlike any other.

“The Madness of Edgar Ellen Poe: A Love Story” brings the tomahawk man’s most macabre tales to life – but breaks away from the stage and tells the story on the go, by whisking you through halls and rooms of the historically haunted Mayslake Peabody estate.

The show blends the personal life of Poe with his most popular works, from “The Raven” to “The Tell-Tale Heart.”

All of which will give you a clearer picture of a man who is historically misunderstood.

The only thing more tragic than his stories was his own life. And with early glowing reviews and extra shows added by popular demand, “The Madness of Edgar Allen Poe” is proving that traditional theater experiences are now for the weak and weary.

Here’s to hoping the misunderstanding of Poe will be nevermore.
