Sisters Network Inc. helps African Americans with breast cancer

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - All week long we have been discussing breast health - from cancer support groups, to the latest medical treatment. But breast cancer affects different types of women in different ways.

For African American women, the risk of contracting breast cancer is lower than for white women, but the risk of dying from breast cancer is higher.

For example, in 2011, African American women had a 44 percent higher rate of breast cancer mortality compared to white women. And still in 2015, African American women have the highest mortality rate when it comes to breast cancer.

Artyce Palmer of the Sisters Network Inc. joined us LIVE on GDC to talk more about the organization's work.
