Delta plane lands at wrong South Dakota airport

- A Delta plane that took off from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport mistakenly landed at the wrong airport in South Dakota, according to a statement from the company.

Thursday evening, Delta Flight 2845 had a safe landing at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota instead of its original intended destination in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Airbus A320 aircraft had 130 customers on board.

The flight re-departed for Rapid City Thursday night after coordinating with officials.

Delta has reached out to the customers and extended a gesture of apology for the inconvenience.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.

The crew involved has been taken off-duty.

Delta has also begun its own internal review.
