8-year-old boy saves toddler from river

FOX 5 News (WAGA) -- A Newnan, Georgia mother credits an 8-year-old boy with saving her baby's life.

Briana Mallory was tubing in Helen over the weekend and said the water suddenly went from 2-feet deep to 8, causing the tube that she and her 7-month-old baby, Aubriella, was in to flip.

Mallory said her daughter had a life jacket on, but it was not enough to stay afloat because of the current. That's when she said the 8-year-old Sandersville boy came to their rescue.

Brayden Wood reached out his hand for her daughter and was able to pull her to safety, Mallory said.

Brayden is no stranger to heroism. His father is a Sanderville volunteer firefighter

Aubriella's parents said they are forever grateful for the boy who they say saved their daughter's life.

The parents said there was also a second man, Ryan Coleman, of Atlanta, who brought the baby to shore once the boy lifted the baby out of water.  They say are grateful to him for helping bring their daughter to safety.
