Essure is a permanent birth control device with coils that are inserted in the fallopian tubes to create scar tissue that blocks the tubes and prevents pregnancy. However, women worldwide have been reporting serious medical problems with Essure. They say the side effects range from hair loss to debilitating pain and constant bleeding. When the FDA announced on Wednesday it had an announcement on the birth control device, the women thought maybe, the product would be taken off the market. Instead, the FDA announced a public hearing would be held on September 24, 2015 and a warning would be added to the product.

While the the women who filed the complaints didn't get the response they were hoping for, they say this is a move in the right direction and they plan to attend the hearing.
