1 dead, 1 critical in Albany Park shooting: police

CHICAGO (Sun Times Media Wire) -- A man is dead and another is in critical condition after both were shot Saturday morning in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

About 5:20 a.m., the men were sitting in a vehicle parked in an alley in the 4400 block of North Bernard Street when someone approached them on foot and opened fire, according to Chicago police.

A 23-year-old man was shot in his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other man, 22, was shot in the face and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details about the death.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation. No one was in custody.
