VILLA PARK (STMW) - A 16-year-old boy was ordered held on $1 million bond Wednesday after being accused of shooting two people in west suburban Villa Park Tuesday night.

Bruce Berrier, of the 900 block of West North Avenue in Villa Park, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a statement from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Villa Park police responded to a call of shots fired at 9:12 p.m. in the 900 block of West North Avenue and found one person shot once in the leg and another shot twice in the leg and once in the abdomen, the statement said. Both victims, whose ages and genders were not immediately available, are expected to recover.

Authorities believe that Berrier opened fire after getting into a fight with the victims. He ran away, and police took him into custody later that night in his apartment.

Berrier’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 21 in front of Judge Brian Telander.
