14-year-old girl accidentally shot in the neck

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A 14-year-old girl was accidentally shot in the neck Tuesday afternoon in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The girl was sitting at a kitchen table inside a home in the 7100 block of South Ingleside Avenue at 3:26 p.m. when someone pulled out a gun to show it to her, according to Fire Media Affairs and Chicago Police.

The weapon accidentally discharged and the person then ran away, authorities said. The girl was shot in the neck and taken to the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in guarded condition.
