15 charged after 33-inmate fight at Kane County jail

CHICAGO (STMW) - Fifteen inmates at the Kane County Adult Justice Center are facing charges after a 33-person fight broke out in a cellblock Sunday morning.

The fight started about 11 a.m. Sept. 27, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff’s office. More than half of the detainees in that cellblock – 33 out of 63 – were involved in the fight.

The single corrections officer assigned to the cellblock called for assistance when the fight broke out, the sheriff’s office said. Other officers came to help, and all the inmates were secured in their cells within five minutes.

Charges of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, were filed against the following inmates after the fight:

Jorge Chavez, 19, of Chicago;
Victor Rivera, 23, of Elgin;
Armando Delgado, 19, of Aurora;
Robert Ramos, 30, of Aurora;
Joshua Matias, 18, of Aurora;
Jose Bonilla, 47, of Aurora;
Tranon Meeks, 27, of Aurora;
Chad Conway, 37, of Rockton;
Martin Munoz-Perez, 25, of West Chicago;
Noel Deluna, 21, of Aurora;
Kevin Parks, 22, of Aurora.
Misdemeanor charges of resisting a correctional officer were also filed against:

Miguel Covarrubias, 24, of Elgin;
Kenneth Newsome, 19, of Montgomery;
Ramon Ayala, 28, of Chicago;
Jamarcus Reynolds, 19, of Aurora.
