SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - An armed robbery at a north suburban credit union prompted a lockdown Friday afternoon at the Naval Station Great Lakes.
The robbery happened at the Great Lakes Credit Union at 2525 Green Bay Rd. in North Chicago about 1:40 p.m., FBI spokesman Garrett Croon said.
The suspect, described as a black male armed with a silver handgun, was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a black ski mask, Croon said. He ran away after the robbery.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. North Chicago police and FBI agents are investigating.
The Naval Station Great Lakes initiated a lockdown about 2 p.m. and issued an order to take cover in the nearest building, according to their Twitter account. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later.
