2 seriously wounded, stray bullet hits CTA bus in Park Manor shooting

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - wo people were seriously wounded in a shooting Thursday evening in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

About 7:15 p.m., a man and woman were outside in the 600 block of East 71st Street when a male got out of a dark-colored SUV and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

A 48-year-old woman was shot in her head and a 40-year-old man was shot in his back, police said. They were both taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition.

It appeared a stray bullet may have struck a CTA bus, according to preliminary information from CTA spokeswoman Irene Ferradaz. One person on the bus suffered an injury that appeared to be from broken glass. It was not known how many people were on the bus at the time.

No one on the bus was transported to a hospital for additional treatment, Fire Media Affairs said.
