Five wounded in Tuesday shootings across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) - Five people have been wounded in daytime shootings Wednesday on the South and West sides.

The most recent attack happened just after noon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and left side and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. The shooter ran from the scene.

About 9:15 a.m., a man and woman were shot near Douglas Park on the West Side.

The two were in the 1300 block of South Albany when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said. A 53-year-old woman was shot in the chin and a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg. Both were taken to Mount Sinai, where their conditions stabilized.

About 45 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the leg in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 27-year-old man was in the 7200 block of South Phillips about 8:30 a.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. He was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

About half an hour earlier, a man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and torso in the 0-100 block of West 112th Street a few minutes before 8 a.m., police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.
