$5,000 reward offered for information about Elgin bank robber

ELGIN (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Authorities are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man who robbed a bank Thursday morning in northwest suburban Elgin.

The man entered the Union National Bank branch at 101 E. Chicago St. about 10 a.m. and made “a threatening demand for money,” according to Elgin police and the FBI.

He then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said, No one was hurt.

Witnesses described the suspect as a bald, 190-pound white man between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot 3 with a medium build and green eyes, the FBI said. He was wearing a dark-colored Adidas sweatshirt.

He is considered armed and dangerous, according to a statement from the FBI. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to his identification and arrest.
