8 wounded in Tuesday shootings on South, West sides
CHICAGO (STMW) - Eight people, including a 15-year-old boy, were wounded in shootings on the city’s South and West sides Tuesday.
The two latest attacks happened within minutes of each other in Englewood.
About 9:45 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was walking in the 5900 block of South Princeton when someone started shooting from a black SUV, according to Chicago Police. He was shot in the neck and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.
Around the same time, a 24-year-old man was walking in the 7300 block of South Morgan when someone walked up with a gun and shot him in the right hand and leg. A friend drove him to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. Investigators think the shooting was drug-related.
Tuesday afternoon, more Englewood gunfire left two other men wounded.
The men, 22 and 28, were walking in the 5600 block of South May Street at 1:20 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up, and two men wearing ski masks got out and shot them. Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the older man was in good condition with a gunshot wound to his left leg and the younger was stabilized with a wound to his right leg, police said.
Minutes earlier, a 37-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet in Woodlawn.
At 1:18 p.m., the woman was driving in the 700 block of West 67th Street when she saw someone in a yard pull a gun and begin shooting at her. She suffered a graze wound to the head, and drove herself to St. Bernard Hospital, where she was listed in good condition. Police said it was unclear whether or not she was the intended victim.
About an hour earlier, two men were shot in the Armour Square neighborhood.
A 28-year-old man was sitting in a parked car and a 27-year-old man was standing outside a vehicle about 12:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Princeton Avenue when someone walked up and shot him, police said.
The 28-year-old man, who is a documented gang member, suffered a gunshot wound to the back, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and the younger man took himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a wound to his index finger. Both were listed in good condition.
Tuesday’s first shooting happened shortly before 11 a.m. in East Garfield Park on the West Side.
A 31-year-old man was in the 800 block of South California when a gold four-door vehicle pulled up and someone inside shot him in the left arm. The documented gang member was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.
