CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A recent surge in street robberies in Chicago's River North neighborhood has many residents on edge.
Earlier this month, a bartender who worked in the area was killed when he was hit by a car. But now, some think the incident followed a robbery.
Seven robberies reported in the area in January. All the incidents occurred either overnight or in the morning. Officials say this marks the most robberies to start the year since nine were reported in January 2005.
And according to a report, robberies in River North have become more frequent since the end of November.
