Cops: Man tied up 74-year-old woman in Justice home invasion

Police say a man broke into a 74-year-old woman’s southwest suburban home and tied her up before stealing her car early Thursday in unincorporated Justice.

Dandre Mabone, 44, faces felony charges of armed robbery and home invasion for the 4:50 a.m. raid in the Sterling Estates mobile home park near the 9300 block of West 79th Street, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Mabone donned a mask and brandished a knife when he broke in, stuffing a sock in the woman’s mouth and tying her up so he could take her debit card and car keys, sheriff’s police said.

He took off in her vehicle, police said. The woman was able to free herself and call for help. She later declined medical attention.

Officers found the car nearby and later tracked down Mabone at his home in the same mobile home park. Police didn’t say how they identified him as the robber.

A judge ordered Mabone held on a $500,000 bond at a Sunday hearing. He is due in court again Tuesday.
