False report of gun prompts lockdown at Waukegan middle school

A false report of a gun prompted a lockdown Monday morning at a middle school in north suburban Waukegan.

Waukegan police received an anonymous call about 11:30 a.m. saying someone had entered Miguel Juarez Middle School at 201 N. Butrick St. with a gun, according to police.

Officers responded and checked the school, but no evidence was found to determine the call was credible, police said.

The school was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes.

The department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the call.
