CHICAGO (FOX 32 NEWS) - A former Cook County inmate has filed a lawsuit over a beating he suffered on July 4, 2013, which appears to show him not resisting an officer while he is punched and kicked repeatedly in the head.
The lawsuit claims the conduct of the officer's actions against inmate Randall Brown were "unnecessary and an unreasonable use of force." The lawsuit lists Cook County Correctional Officer Branden Norise, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart and Cook County as the defendants.
"Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart referred the incident to State's Attorney Anita Alvarez's office for criminal prosecution. Anita Alvarez, like she has so often done in the past, refused to prosecute a member of law enforcement that blatantly committed acts of criminal and civil misconduct against a resident of Cook County," a statement from The Blake Horwitz Law Firm read.
