Human remains discovered near train tracks in south suburbs

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - Human skeletal remains were discovered early Tuesday in south suburban Phoenix.

The remains were discovered in the 15500 block of Halsted Street in Phoenix, near train tracks, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Tuesday did not rule on a cause and manner of death pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office. They remain unidentified as of Wednesday morning.

Police could not immediately provide information Wednesday. Phoenix is a village with a population of about 1,970 people between Riverdale, South Holland and Harvey.
