CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man has been charged with growing more than 20 marijuana plants in his Andersonville neighborhood home on the North Side.

Michael Guiragossian, 53, faces one felony count of production of cannabis — between 20 and 50 plants — and one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

About 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Lincoln District officers executed a search warrant at Guiragossian’s home in the 1400 block of West Gregory, police said. A search of the building led to the discovery of a “significant number of cannabis plants and means of production.”

Guiragossian was freed after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond after a Sunday hearing, according to Cook County Circuit Court records. His next court date is Aug. 11.
