Man charged with robbing three 7-Elevens in SW suburbs

OAK LAWN (STMW) - A 56-year-old Alsip man has been charged with robbing three convenience stores in the southwest suburbs.

Kenneth M. Kroenert, 56, has been charged with three felony counts of aggravated robbery, according to a statement from Oak Lawn police.

About 7:15 p.m. Monday, police responded to a robbery at a 7-Eleven in the 10400 block of South Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn, police said. The suspect entered the store and walked around before going to the counter and demanding cash. The clerk complied and he ran away.

The next day, Kroenert was identified in a photo lineup by witnesses, police said. He was also suspected in other 7-Eleven robberies in the area.

A patrol officer saw Kroenert’s vehicle parked at the J.C. Miami Motel in the 9000 block of South Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn, and learned he was staying there. He was taken into custody about 9:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Kroenert was charged with robbing 7-Eleven stores in Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Oak Forest, police said.

Kroenert, of the 3400 block of West 123rd Place in Alsip, was ordered held on a $450,000 bond Thursday in court in Bridgeview.
