CHICAGO (STMW) - A man is in Chicago Police custody after a woman was sexually assaulted early Monday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
The 23-year-old woman was talking to a 21-year-old man she knew in a gangway between two homes in the 1700 block of North Monitor just after 4 a.m. when he forcibly grabbed her and sexually assaulted her, according to Chicago Police.
The woman called 911 and the 21-year-old man was taken into custody, police said.
She suffered some “minor scratches” and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park for an evaluation, police said.
Area North detectives are investigating.
