CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A man was wounded in a shooting Saturday morning on a Dan Ryan Expressway ramp on the South Side.

The man, who is in his mid-20s, was the front-seat passenger in a vehicle on the ramp from southbound I-94 to southbound I-55 at 5:12 a.m. when a second vehicle pulled up next to it on the driver’s side, according to Illinois State Police.  The front-seat passenger of the second vehicle flashed gang signs intended to disrespect the Latin Kings before firing three shots into the victim’s vehicle, one of which struck the man in the face. The shooter’s vehicle then drove away.

The driver took the man to a hospital in critical condition, police said. He has since been stabilized.

Police said the driver of the victim’s vehicle is a documented Latin Kings gang member and the shooting appeared to be a targeted, gang-related attack.
