SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - Two people were found dead in a West Town home following a five-hour barricade situation Tuesday night.
Officers responded about 5 p.m. to a call of a domestic shooting in a building in the 800 block of North Wolcott, according to Chicago Police.
Someone refused to come out of the apartment, and police SWAT team members were called and made entry into the home about five hours later, police said.
Loretta A. Purcell, 84, and Christopher Kelly Purcell, 58, were both found dead inside, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.They were both pronounced dead at the scene at 9:58 p.m. and lived on the same block as the incident.
An autopsy Wednesday found Loretta Purcell died of multiple sharp force injuries, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office. Christopher Purcell died of a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide.
