Police: 60-year-old struck her ex with vehicle after argument
SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - After an argument with her ex-boyfriend outside a northwest suburban train station, a 60-year-old woman was clearly not happy. First she punched him in the face, and then hit him with her car, knocking him several feet into the air, according to police.
It happened Tuesday afternoon, and led to Blanche M. Slaten of the 800 block of Washington Street in Woodstock being charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor domestic battery, according to Woodstock police.
About 1 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the Woodstock Train Depot at 90 Church St. to investigate a reported hit-and-run accident, a statement from police said.
Police learned the accident was actually a domestic violence incident in which Slaten became “engaged” during an argument, got into her vehicle and “intentionally struck her 61-year-old estranged boyfriend” with her vehicle, police said. “The impact of the collision caused the victim to be thrown several feet and causing minor injuries.”
Prior to hitting him with the car, she “also struck the victim in his face with a closed fist,” police said.
Slaten drove off before police arrived but was arrested a short time later at her home, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital by the Woodstock Fire Rescue District. He was treated and later released.
Slaten, charged with one count of aggravated battery and two counts of domestic battery, was held overnight at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility, then was released after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond, police said.
