Police: Burglars forcing way into postal vehicles in Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO (STMW) - Packages and mail are being stolen when one or more people break into parked postal vehicles around the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

A community alert from Chicago Police said on at least three occasions in the last two weeks, with the latest incident being Monday, a suspect or suspects force open the doors of unattended U.S. Postal Service vehicles and remove mail and packages.

Incidents occurred in:

— the 5300 block of West 64th Street on Sept. 14 at 12:40 p.m.;

— the 5400 block of South Sayre on Sept. 14 at 1:20 p.m.;

— the 7900 block of South Christiana on Sept. 22 at 12:30 p.m.; and

— the 6000 block of West 56th Street on Sept. 28 at noon.
