(SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - Law enforcement officials destroyed more than 800 cannabis plants Thursday afternoon in south suburban Beecher.
Officers eradicated 812 outdoor marijuana plants about 3:30 p.m. in a 5,742-square-foot wooded area near South Stateline Road in rural Beecher, according to a statement from the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
KAMEG, an agency consisting of officers from multiple law enforcement agencies in the region, had received a tip from Illinois State Police about the plants, officials said. During the search, they also found equipment used in the production of cannabis plants.
