Police: Man attempted to lure child at Naperville library

Police are warning about a man who tried to lure a child Wednesday afternoon in west suburban Naperville.

About 4:30 p.m., police responded to Nichols branch of the Naperville Public Library in the 200 block of West Jefferson to a report that a man tried to lure a 5-year-old girl from the library, according to a statement from Naperville police.

The girl was approached in an interior stairwell by a man who tried to persuade her to come with him, police said. A family member interrupted the man when they entered the stairwell and the man ran away.

The man was described as a white man, 25-35 years old, with short black hair and wearing blue jeans and a long sleeve black t-shirt, according to police. He was last seen with a woman described as being about the same age with long blonde hair.
