Police: Man robbed same South Side store at gunpoint twice in last month

Chicago police are searching for a suspect who robbed the same Auburn Gresham neighborhood store at gunpoint twice in the last month.

The robberies happened at the Family Dollar in the 8000 block of South Halsted at 5:14 p.m. Feb. 28 and 5:52 p.m. March 22, according to a community alert from Area South detectives.

Both times, the suspect waited in line to pay for merchandise, then announced a robbery while pointing a handgun at the clerk, police said.

The suspect is described as a black man 45-59, about 5-foot and 120-180 pounds with black curly hair, police said. He was wearing a black Bulls cap, green jacket, white t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
