Police: Man used fake gun to rob 7-Eleven in Aurora

AURORA (STMW) - A 23-year-old man has been charged with robbing a 7-Eleven store in west suburban Aurora with a fake gun last month.

Nikko Tooley of the 1000 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora faces charges of aggravated robbery in connection with the Jan. 24 incident, according to a statement from Aurora police.

About 6:45 a.m., Tooley entered the store in the 600 block of South Frontenac Street, pulled out the fake handgun, and demanded money, police said. The clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of money and Tooley ran out. The clerk was not injured.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured images of a vehicle speeding from the store, police said.

Tooley was later arrested when a Batavia police officer stopped a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle in the surveillance photos, police said. Items worn by the robber were found inside the car, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Tooley has been ordered held at the DuPage County Jail on a $15,000 bond, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office.
