Police: Men tried to lure girls, offered candy in Dunning

CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are searching for three men who attempted to lure two girls to their car last week by offering candy in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

At 7:36 p.m. Nov. 6, the girls were in front of their home, practicing gymnastics in the 3400 block of North Page when a burgundy SUV drove up, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

Police said the SUV had three men inside of it, one of whom was sitting in the rear passenger seat and lowered his window, yelling, “Do you want some candy?”

The girls ran inside the home and told their father, who called 911, police said.

The three individuals inside the SUV were all white men, police said. The man in the back seat is described as about 30 or 40 years old. The vehicle is a burgundy, 2004 Chrysler with four doors and the SUV’s rear quarter panel on the passenger side has a noticeable scratch.

Anyone with information on the attempted child luring is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
