Police searching for driver that struck woman in Humboldt Park

Police are searching for the driver of a car that struck and critically injured a woman Saturday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 19-year-old woman was riding a motorized scooter in the 3200 block of West Crystal Avenue about 3:45 p.m. when she was struck by a car heading eastbound, according to the community alert from Chicago Police. The car fled onto Kedzie Avenue immediately after the crash.

The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was in critical but “stable” condition, police said.

The car was described as a beige or tan 2003 to 2005 four-door Chrysler Sebring with Illinois license plates, according to police. The driver was a Hispanic man in his late 20s and there were three other people in the car, also described as Hispanic men in their late 20s.
