Police warn of robberies, carjackings in Back of the Yards

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Police are warning residents of recent carjackings and robberies in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

In each incident, at least one suspect approached victims and demanded their property, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The incidents happened:

  • at 10:57 p.m. June 7 in the 4900 block of South Paulina;
  • about 10 p.m. June 11 in the 4800 block of South Damen; and
  • about 4 p.m. June 13 in the 5000 block of South Ashland.
  • The suspects are described as black men, between 18 and 25 years old, standing between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, weighing between 130 and 160 pounds, with braids or dreadlocks, police said.
