Police warn of West Side carjackings

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Police are warning residents of two carjackings that happened days apart in the Humboldt Park and East Garfield Park neighborhoods on the West Side.
In both incidents, a suspect approached the victims on the street, showed a handgun and took the victims’ vehicles and personal property, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
One vehicular hijacking happened about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in the 3400 block of West Chicago, while the other occurred about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the 500 block of North Central Park, police said.
One suspect is described as a 190-pound black man, between 20 and 30 years old, with a tattoo by his right ear, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, police said. Another suspect is described as a black man, between 19 and 25 years old, standing between 5-feet-6 and 5-feet-9, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds and also wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
