Teenager critically wounded in Lawndale drive-by shooting

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News/ STMW) - A 16-year-old boy was critically wounded in a Lawndale neighborhood drive-by shooting Tuesday evening on the Southwest Side.

The teenager was standing outside in the 1300 block of South Homan after walking out of a corner store at 6:34 p.m. when a vehicle drove by and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

The boy was shot in the upper body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. Family members tell FOX 32 News the teen may lose his kidney. 

Family members say the teen is a straight A student. 

A police source said he is a documented gang member.
