Two armed robberies reported in La Grange last weekend

LA GRANGE, Ill. (STMW) - Two armed robberies were reported near west suburban La Grange within 24 hours of each other last weekend.

The first robbery happened about 9:15 p.m. Friday on Cossitt Avenue near Spring Avenue, according to La Grange police. Two 16-year-old boys were jumped by two suspects who walked up, brandished firearms and demanded the teens’ money and cellphones.

The teens handed over their property and no one was hurt, police said. The suspects ran eastbound on Cossitt, and the victims ran three blocks west to Lyons Township High School and called police.

One of the suspects was described as a black man between 18 and 20, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1 with a slim build and wearing a baseball cap, gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The other suspect was described as a black man between 18 and 20, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-11 with a heavy build, dreadlocks and wearing a dark jacket.

The next day, a similar robbery happened in La Grange Park.

About 8:30 p.m. Saturday, three suspects walked up to four juveniles, pulled out firearms and demanded the victims’ money and cellphones, police said. The victims complied and no one was injured. The suspects ran away after the robbery, and the juveniles ran two blocks to the La Grange Park Police Department to report the robbery.
