Two charged with swiping purses from River North store

Two South Side man have been charged with stealing several designer purses from a River North department store Monday morning.

Jahmal Jackson, 22; and Mark Conner, 21, faces felony counts of retail theft over $300 and aggravated battery to a merchant, according to Chicago Police.

About 10:30 a.m., they walked into the Nordstrom at 55 E. Grand Ave., grabbed the purses and ran away, police said. They were arrested nearby.

Jackson, of the 5700 block of South Carpenter, was ordered held on a $100,000 bond at a Tuesday hearing, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. Bond was set at $50,000 for Conner, of the 5600 block of South Emerald.

They are due in court again Aug. 29.
