Woman carrying gasoline container robs Southwest Side bank

CHICAGO (STMW) - A woman carrying a gasoline container robbed a U.S. Bank branch Thursday afternoon in the Little Village neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The woman, thought to be in her 60s, walked into the bank at 2854 W. Cermak about 2:35 p.m. and passed a note to the teller, according to Chicago Police and the FBI. She implied she had a weapon, demanded cash and then ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured in the robbery, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot Hispanic woman, between 60 and 65 years old, with blonde hair and a slender build, the FBI said. She was wearing a black hat, sunglasses and a pink and gray coat. Surveillance photos show the woman appears to have been carrying a gasoline container.
