Woman nearly abducted outside Royse City Walmart

- Police are looking for a man and a woman who tried to kidnap a worker from the Royse City Walmart parking lot.

It happened Sunday around 10:45 p.m. The 17-year-old employee, who was not working at the time, told police she grocery shopping and was leaving the store when she was approached by a man and a woman in a gray SUV.

The pair said they needed money for groceries. But when the victim replied that she didn’t have any cash, they grabbed her and forced her inside their SUV, police said.

The victim struggled with the suspects, who had a handgun. But police said she was able to get away from them and run to other shoppers for help.

"She continued to fight and struggle with both the suspects,” said Royse City Police Chief Jeff Stapleton. “And she managed to work herself through the vehicle and out the opposite side of the car."

Police say a Good Samaritan was in the parking lot at the time and helped her back into the store, where they called police and reported her red Honda Accord being stolen at gunpoint.

Walmart Corporate said they take seriously the safety of their customers and employees. They will look into the possibility of adding additional lights and or security cameras at the store in Royse City.

The suspects took off in the gray SUV and stole the victim’s car. They may have been involved in another carjacking in a nearby neighborhood, but police said the victim did not stick around to talk to officers.

The suspects are described as a black male in his 20s and a black female in her 30s. Police have asked residents to be on alert and report any suspicious activity to the Royse City Police Department at 972-636-9422.
