8-year-old opens bakery to help mom buy new home

An eight-year-old California boy opened a home bakery to make money to help his mother buy a new home.

"I wanted to save up a lot of  money to get a house," Jalen Bailey told KFSN. "I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in."

Jalen said that his mom, Sharhonda Mahan, is the one who inspired him to open Jalen's Bakery.

Sharhonda, who is raising Jalen on her own, told KFSN that she has had a side business since she was 18 years old. She fully supports Jalen's business idea and even works as his assistant sometimes.

Jalen cranks out cookies by the dozens and banana nut by the loaf, working out of their tiny rental home.
