Family killed in tragic domestic violence rampage

- An entire family was killed after a rocky marriage went terribly wrong. According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office things escalated Sunday at 10 p.m. at a Chili’s Restaurant on Lake Mary Boulevard.

Deputies say the shooting suspect, 30-year-old Henry Brown, hid in his estranged wife’s trunk until she came out of the restaurant. When she was done eating detectives say Brown stabbed 31-year-old Chericia Brown multiple times in the parking lot.

“This was a marriage that had gone wrong somewhere in December of last year," explained Seminole County Chief Deputy Dennis Lemma. "A domestic battery was reported in the Altamonte Springs jurisdiction; ultimately an injunction was filed by Ms. Brown. An injunction was issued in January of this year and the relationship was rocky ever since."

Investigators say a nurse and paramedic were inside the restaurant eating and ran outside to help Chericia Brown, but that’s when deputies say the suspect hopped in his friend’s car and ran her over while also hitting the two good Samaritans.

Then, according to deputies, Henry Brown drove to Grand Regency Pointe Apartments in Altamonte Springs to pick up his two children from the babysitter. He also switched vehicles and took a Ford pickup truck and put his 1-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son in the back seat.

Around 12:30 a.m. he arrived at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. This is where his wife was being treated and he was looking for her, but law enforcement recognized him.

“While inside the hospital (Brown) attempted to flee and then pulled a firearm out and started to fire at the law enforcement officers and security personnel,” said Chief Deputy Lemma.

Deputies say they fired back, but the suspect sped off onto I-4 westbound. No law enforcement or hospital personnel were injured during the shootout.

According to deputies as authorities tried to stop him on the St. John's River Bridge, the suspect shot and killed his two children and then killed himself.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting. The two good Samaritans were hospitalized, but one person was released.
