Detectives in DeKalb County have arrested an 18-year-old for the animal cruelty after a video surfaced showing a dog being punched in the head.

Deangela Polain was taken into custody on Friday. She was charged her with misdemeanor animal cruelty.

DeKalb County Police said they received tips through Crime Stoppers that led them to Polain.

Officials said the dog, which is in good conditions, has also been recovered and will be placed in foster care.

A $5,000 reward had been put up by PETA after a witness came forward to police with the video on March 11. Witnesses told FOX 5 News the woman first hit the dog with a stick, then started punching it. The dog appeared to be a Corgi mix.

DeKalb County Police had also canvassed the area around Willa Way searching for the woman and the dog.
