Irving PD releases hilarious Pokemon Go safety tips video

Whether you love it or hate it, you’ve probably heard of the newest mobile game that has all the kids (and kids-at-heart) outdoors trying to “catch ‘em all.”

Since Pokemon Go’s release last week, it hasn’t been all fun and games for its players.

Players have reportedly been robbed, walked off a cliff and even accidentally crashed into a police car while playing the game.

Even in North Texas, we’ve seen a player get bitten by a real-life snake and another player discovering a dumpster fire at a school.

It’s the big reason why the Irving Police Department released a short minute-long video with safety tips to address the popular mobile game’s safety hazards.

In the video, an Irving police officer goes around and “catches” people who are being unsafe while playing the game or people who are taking advantage of other players being distracted by the game.

The department warned players to:

  1. Don’t play the game while driving
  2. Don’t  walk into traffic while being distracted by the game
  3. Play with a group of friends to stay safe
  4. Don’t be ‘lured’ into a bad situation or sketchy area
  5. Don’t go onto private property
