RECALL: Quaker Oats granola bar products due to Listeria concern

Quaker Oats is issuing a recall of two of its granola bar products due to a Listeria concern.

The company announced it's recalling boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley and Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut.

According to the FDA, the ingredient supplier was found to have distributed sunflower kernels that may have been contaminated with Listeria.

The products affected are: 

-6.1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley with UPC code 30000 32241 and Best Before Dates of: 10/16/2016, 10/17/2016

-6.1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut with UPC 30000 32243 and Best
Before Dates of: 10/10/2016, 10/11/2016

No one has been reported ill from consuming the bars.

The company said it's issuing this voluntary recall in an abundance of caution.

Listeria monocytegenes can cause serious illnesses in children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of Listeria infection include fever, headache, nausea and diarrhea, and it can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
